2006 SECC Summer Forum: No Child Left Behind...and how are the children?

http://secc.sedl.org

Description

The Southeast Comprehensive Center hosted a forum designed to help state educational leaders address NCLB implementation challenges and plan for the future. This forum was intended for leaders from the Southeast region—Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina.

Participants attended to gain strategies, information, and resources designed for leaders who work with schools (e.g., staff from the state department of education, designated service providers, district staff). During this 2-day working session, each participant worked in-depth in one of three content strands—high school redesign, leadership, and school improvement. Within each strand, participants:

• Examined models proven effective for increasing student achievement

• Planned the key strategies that will be used to support and guide schools as they work to improve student performance

• Identified the partners who need to be involved in an effective improvement effort
