Center Overview
The Center on Innovation and Improvement (CII) is a national content center, whose primary client is the network of regional comprehensive centers. A central goal of CII is to operate effectively and efficiently to provide information, tools, and training to the network of regional comprehensive centers to help them build state capacity to improve student learning by assisting districts and schools with school improvement, and implement and support the provisions and mandates of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. CII has developed a comprehensive and efficient system of sensing the needs of its clients and providing assistance focused on the needs to the network of regional comprehensive centers (RCCs) who are their primary clients.
Methods
The Center's services include: a rich website at www.centerii.org with a current database on state systems of support, restructuring, supplemental educational services (SES), and charter school information. Reports in all categories are downloadable. The CII web site also provides research, reports and tools for all 50 states and U. S. territories. Most are free for downloading, including Center publications and reports. The Center also offers technical assistance retreats to regional centers to meet the needs of their SEAs, on the topics of: Evaluating SES, Restructuring, Parental Outreach for SES, and Statewide Systems of Support. An Institute on School Improvement and Education Options is scheduled annually to meet evolving needs of the regional centers and the states they support.
