Center Overview
Westat assists OSEP and states develop the capacity to collect and analyze valid, reliable, and comparable early intervention and special education data for reporting, program planning, and evaluation. Westat also conducts studies to analyze significant issues and data trends; assists OSEP in providing guidance to state and local educators on education reform issues such as assessment, accountability, indicators, and evaluations; facilitates information exchanges among federal, state, and local educators on common concerns and goals; and obtains, organizes, and analyzes information from multiple sources for reporting on progress in implementing IDEA, including the effectiveness of state and local efforts to implement the law.
Methods
Methods of technical assistance include: conferences/meetings, teleconferences, documents, guidelines, Q & As, listservs, web site, one-on-one assistance to Part C and Part B state data managers, and state analysis grants.
