Center Overview
The Great Lakes East Comprehensive Assistance Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, and operated by Learning Point Associates serves Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. It is part of the network of 16 regional Comprehensive Assistance Centers and five national Content Centers. The mission of Great Lakes East is to deliver technical assistance and support tailored to the needs of the state education agencies (SEAs) in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio and the priorities of the U.S. Department of Education related to No Child Left Behind (NCLB) implementation. Great Lakes East is accomplishing this mission by establishing high-integrity relationships and by focusing on building state capacity to improve student performance.
Methods
Great Lakes East is working closely with the SEAs in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio and the national content centers to provide technical assistance and support as they implement programs and fulfill the requirements of NCLB in the following areas: >Assessing the improvement needs of schools and districts >Developing solutions to address those needs >Building and sustaining systemic support for districts and school improvement efforts related to closing the achievement gaps and improving achievement outcomes >Improving the tools and the systems for school improvement and accountability Great Lakes East will continually assess the needs of each state, find and leverage resources, assist states in effectively utilizing those resources, distribute scientifically based research findings, and model and disseminate information on processes and approaches for improving state capacity.
