Center Overview
NIUSI directly assists at least 400 principals across the country to develop and implement inclusive schools to ensure their students with and without disabilities meet or exceed academic standards set by their states and measured by state assessment systems. Based on the Leadership Academy modules developed and field tested by the National Institute for Urban School Improvement (NIUSI), the Principal Leadership Academies will use the NIUSI Leadscape platform to bring principals around the county into sustained professional communities focused on leadership for inclusive schools. Each academy incorporates research-based effective strategies and methods for professional learning as well as research-based effective content on what principals need to know and do to achieve effective, inclusive schools.
